It all begins with an idea.

Over 12 years ago, four Michigan destinations got together to discuss how they can collaborate on promoting the state of Michigan for sports events.

Currently, we are 20 destinations strong and in 2023 started operating as an official 501 (c) 3 non-for-profit organization.

Our mission is to promote the state of Michigan as a destination for sporting events, thus leaving an economic impact on our local businesses, stores, restaurants, and hotels. By bringing these events to our state, we foster economic development through sports tourism.

In addition to promoting Michigan, we have been fostering Women in Sports through the state-wide initiative set up through our Secretary of State’s Office. We want to be part of the conversation to increase Women’s presence in Sports.

Lastly, we support the Aspen Institute and their Project Play Initiative. We wholly believe, “Sports participation is one of society's best tools for addressing a range of larger challenges – from obesity prevention to cancer risk reduction, gender equity to the social inclusion of people with disabilities, racial bias to the restoration of civic trust across communities,” supporting the Children’s Bill of Rights to Sport.
